The Undersea Lamplighting design

The Undersea Lamp is a dynamic mobile that engages through gentle movements with the breeze of a passing viewer, reminiscent of the flowing shape and grace of an ocean creature passing in the water.  The design was part of the Idea Lab 2013 exhibition, a charity challenge hosted by Interior Design Magazine and Interface flooring to raise money for DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting Aids, in which a variety of New York design firms were invited to create furniture and art objects from recycled materials.  Using air-twisted and spooled yarns reclaimed from the carpet-making process, the lamp was a whimsical exercise in sustainable design for a good cause.
