ICRAVE teamed up with the Westin in Times Square to create a fresh new identity for the public areas including the lobby and the Foundry Kitchen & Bar. The reimagined Westin lobby combines nature-inspired elements with a sophisticated, urban design to re-energize the lobby. Arranged into multiple “camps”, furniture was strategically placed to meet the needs of transient, group and corporate travelers. Families can occupy a sofa nook in front of the fireplace, while business travelers can meet and work at large communal tables in the media lounge where convenience outlets and USB ports were seamlessly integrated into furniture.

The two focal tables are made from a salvaged Indonesian Teak tree and giant tree trunks serve as a waiting perch for guests during check-in/check-out. Large up-lit wood screens create a sense of drama, while a candlelit fireplace adds the warmth and comfort of residential hearth to the lobby. The neutral color palette, with luxurious fabrics and pops of green adds an understated elegance throughout the space, and builds on Westin’s nature connection.

The rebranded Foundry Kitchen & Bar, is a welcoming and modern bar & lounge where guests and locals can gather. Warm walnut paneling, glossy grey tile, and cracked copper bar die all fuse together to create an industrial feel with and polished edges. True to the name, old metal pulleys, wheels, and hinges sourced from upstate NY are used as artwork on the walls. The objects have oxidized with use over time, resulting in a beautiful weathered patina that adds a rich textural backdrop to the space. A 9’ long, oversized globe chandelier is a new beacon for the bar and hotel, captivating and drawing people in from the street. Glowing bottle walls flank both sides of the bar creating a warm, intimately lit atmosphere. The design marries masculine, tough materials with a classic and sophisticated color palette.
