21 West End Avenue Debuts New York City’s Largest Digital Sculpture, “Luci”
As a central design element of the building’s 30,000-square-foot amenity floors, Luci creates drama, and like a bolt, descends two stories into the shared community space. A pair of serpentine, stainless steel beams support a series of interlaced tiles that are positioned to form a singular reflective surface. Over the course of five years and 70 iterations of it, the design team collaborated to develop temporal projections that change in appearance throughout the day. Now complete, the sculpture encapsulates years of thought and effort into one living installation.
